Job description

Data privacy is an increasingly critical concern in our digital world, as we share more and more information about ourselves and our lives online. However, privacy concerns often hinder data sharing, which can limit our ability to learn from data and create new technologies. To overcome this hurdle, a theoretical framework is being developed to ensure that data can be processed in a privacy-preserving manner.

The aim of the project is to develop a privacy-by-design framework that incorporates a powerful privacy measure called "pointwise maximal leakage." This statistical measure provides provable privacy guarantees, allowing for a thorough privacy risk analysis as required by GDPR. Pointwise maximal leakage has a more flexible definition that allows for the incorporation of prior domain knowledge, preventing overly conservative privacy mechanisms that unnecessarily diminish utility.

The postdoc should continue our research developing analytical tools for privacy risk assessment and optimal design approaches using pointwise maximal leakage as the privacy measure.
