Senior Scientist (postdoc) (all genders welcome)

Level of employment: 100 %

Minimum salary: € 60,926.60 per annum (gross), Classification according to collective agreement: B1 lit.b

Limited to: Temporary, for the duration of the replacement of the job holder (presumably 5 years)

The Department of Geography and Regional Studies at the University of Klagenfurt is looking for new staff in the fields of economic geography, sustainability and quantitative methods.

Area of responsibility

  • Independent teaching in the field of economic geography and methods as well as further development of the department’s study programmes
  • Supervision of Bachelor's and Master's theses and conducting examinations
  • Assistance with administrative and organisational tasks of the department
  • Participation in the acquisition and organisation of third-party funded projects and publication activities
  • Independent academic research with the aim of developing your own research profile

Requirements

  • Completed dissertation in economic geography or a related discipline at a domestic or foreign higher education institution
  • Research activity related to sustainability transitions
  • Proven knowledge of quantitative methods
  • Relevant publications in scientific journals
  • Very good written and spoken English skills

Desired skills

  • Didactic experience
  • Methodological expertise in the fields of social network analysis or geographic information systems
  • Experience in the organization of projects and the acquisition of third-party funding
  • Written and spoken German
  • Ability to work in a team

The employment contract is concluded with a starting salary of € 4,351.90 gross per month (14 times a year; previous experience deemed relevant to the job can be recognised in accordance with the collective agreement).
