We are looking to recruit a

Team Leader Autothermal LOHC Dehydrogenation in the Department Chemical Hydrogen Storage

Your Job:

You will take over the lead and development of the team “Autothermal LOHC Dehydrogenation” of the top-class scientific department “Chemical Hydrogen Storage” at the renowned HI ERN. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Peter Wasserscheid and Dr.-Ing. Michael Geißelbrecht, our department researches and develops a wide range of topics related to chemical hydrogen storage along the entire process chain. In particular, issues in the field of LOHC technology are addressed across the entire size range. These topics include the development of tailor-made catalysts, the development and modeling of reactors, and the realization of demonstrators. The department is a world leader in the field of LOHC technology. Your varied tasks in detail:

  • You coordinate and lead an interdisciplinary team of talented PhD students in the fields of chemistry and engineering.
  • You take over the project management for exciting externally funded projects and contribute your innovative ideas.
  • You successfully acquire externally funded projects to further advance our research.
  • You represent HI ERN at inspiring project meetings and international conferences to expand our network and consolidate our position as a pioneer in LOHC technology.

Your Profile:

  • You have an excellent master’s degree and have already completed or are about to complete your PhD thesis in chemistry, engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • With your in-depth expertise in catalysis and catalyst development, you are ideally equipped for this complex position.
  • Your experience in supervising PhD students and postdocs has developed your leadership skills and your motivation to nurture enthusiastic talent.
  • Additional experience in areas such as hydrogen technologies, dehydrogenation, selective oxidation, catalyst characterization, reaction engineering, or the design of continuous laboratory plants is an advantage.
  • You have already successfully acquired third-party funding, published peer-viewed research papers, and presented convincingly at international conferences.
  • With your intrinsic motivation, initiative, creativity, and ability to work independently, you will be an asset to our team.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills are essential for international cooperation.
  • Your excellent cooperation and communication skills as well as your ability to work in a team complete your profile.

The position is for a fixed term of five years. Salary and social benefits will conform to the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD-Bund) depending on the applicant’s qualifications and the precise nature of the tasks assigned to them.
