The Disease Modelling & Screening Platform (DMSP) is a dynamic scientific service provider, dedicated to advancing translational research projects at the LCSB. DMSP operates under the joint auspices of the LCSB and the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), with its cutting-edge laboratory infrastructure established at the LCSB site.

At DMSP, we are committed to advancing early drug discovery through the implementation of cell and organoid-based phenotypic screening. Our primary goal is to support research teams within the LCSB and LIH, as well as academic and commercial partners both in Luxembourg and abroad. Our overarching vision is to provide access to state-of-the-art infrastructure, complemented by expert guidance in experimental design, model selection, compound delivery, and the development and execution of high-content analysis.

  Your Role...

Area: early drug discovery by implementing cell and organoid-based phenotypic screening, automated HC/HT screening

  • Design/perform various experiments using the portfolio of DMSP (assay development and optimization, compound library screening, identification of lead candidates).
  • Data analysis, preparation and presentation of results in written reports and presentations, protocols, SOP’s and other documentation (LIMS).
  • Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instruments as needed.
  • Critically review the experimental design of projects which include core technologies.
  • Interact and collaborate with scientists at all levels (PhD students, postdocs, principal investigators, professors).
  • Participate in grant writing.
  • Prepare and submit scientific material for peer review for publication independently or in collaboration with other researchers.

  What we expect from you…

  • A Ph.D. in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field is required, demonstrating a strong foundation in relevant scientific disciplines.
  • Possess extensive experience in the principles of drug discovery, miniaturization, and automation engineering, as well as proficiency in imaging and confocal microscopy techniques.
  • A proven track record in translational research, including hands-on experience in assay development and high-content/high-throughput screening.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project partners from diverse technology areas such as biology, compound management, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, and analytical chemistry.
  • Willingness to contribute to the operational management and strategic development of our technology platform.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, capable of working both collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of high content screening, including the adaptation and scaling of established assays to the screening platform, 3D cell culture, and the use of organoids, is a significant advantage.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English are essential, with the ability to effectively present technologies and research results in both internal meetings and conferences.
