Job description

The tasks of the post are divided equally between teaching and research. In addition, the candidate will also participate in various administrative responsibilities related to the school (juries, deliberations, recruitment commissions, faculty commission for doctorates...). Finally, he/she will contribute to the visibility and strengthening of the position of the school in national and international expertise with regard to the lines of research described below.

He/she will be able to develop a high level of productive research. These developments will be supported by partnerships with other ESP[1] research centres, other faculties of Health, but also with other national and international institutions. 

Research areas:

An orientation in the field of Health Economics or Quality of Care Management is desirable.

The candidate will propose a research development plan in his/her application.

He/she will be required to supervise doctoral theses in Public Health oriented towards Health Economics or Quality of Care Management, including co-promotions or co-supervision with other universities, and will be responsible for participating in thesis support committees.

For all these activities, the incumbent will benefit from the technical and administrative support of the ESP and the ULB Research Department.

Educational and scientific objectives

The candidate will contribute to the teaching of the Master' s degree in Public Health and those of other faculties concerned by this vacancy. He/she will also be able to support the development of "e-learning”, particularly in the context of continuing education.

During the first year, the maximum teaching load will be 90 hours and will gradually increase to 120 hours after three years.

Faculty of Medecine 

  • MEDI-G-5580: Organization of Social Security and Healthcare – 5 ECTS (Lecture 10h)
  • SAPU-G-1210: Introduction to Public Health, Health Economics, Social Challenges (Lecture 12h)

Solvay Business school of management 

  • GEST-S-528  Seminar in Business Economics: Public Management -10 ECTS (Lecture 12h)

This teaching load is indicative; it may change according to the holder's skills or the needs of the Master's programs. The candidate may be asked also teach in continuing education programs.

Required skills

  • Required educational level: PhD Degree, preferably oriented towards Health Economics or Quality of Care Management.
  • Required Languages: French: advanced, English: proficient

If you are not fluent in French (level C1), you may be granted an adjustment period, but you must be able to teach in French by the end of the third year.

  • Skills related to the teaching and research themes of the CR1[2]
  • Demonstrate skills useful for submitting and obtaining research projects in collaboration with national and international partners as well as for the supervision of researchers.
  • A mobility of several months outside the institution where the doctorate was carried out, a medical education, and an international experience will be considered as assets.
